The end of Ramadan is coming, which means Eid al-Fitr is almost here. In Bali, and especially in Canggu where locals, expats and digital nomads mix, this time of year feels extra special. Days move a bit slower, evenings feel more meaningful, and many conversations are about family plans, travel, prayers and celebration.
What Eid al-Fitr Is All About
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting from sunrise to sunset. For Muslims around the world, and in Indonesia, it is one of the most important and joyful days of the year. After weeks of discipline and reflection, Eid is a time of gratitude, connection and new beginnings. People thank God for the strength to complete the fast, spend time with family, friends and neighbours, and ask for forgiveness so they can start again with a clean heart.
On the morning of Eid, people wake up early, dress in clean or new clothes, and join special prayers in mosques or large open spaces. Afterwards, families and friends visit each other’s homes, share food and sweets, give small gifts and enjoy the day together. In Indonesia, Eid al-Fitr is also called Lebaran. Many Indonesians travel back to their hometowns in a tradition called mudik. Roads and airports get busy, shops and offices change their hours, and even in lively Canggu life slows down and you see more families simply being together. Even if you are not Muslim, this is a nice moment to learn more about local culture.
Ramadan Flowing into Eid at PUCO Rooftop
At PUCO Rooftop Coworking Space in Canggu, we see how Ramadan flows into Eid every year. Many of our guests are fasting while they work, take calls and join meetings. Their energy goes up and down during the day, but they keep showing up for both their faith and their work, which we really respect.
To support everyone who is fasting, we offer three free dates after iftar so you can break your fast in a simple, traditional way. We also stay open later, so you can work after sunset, when you often have more energy and the space feels extra calm. During Ramadan, PUCO stays in the same peaceful coworking space, but with more care for those who fast. Our silent indoor office is great when you need focus, and the open rooftop is ideal when you want fresh air and a view over Canggu. The Wi‑Fi is fast and stable, the air conditioning keeps the space cool, and our chairs and desks are comfortable enough to work for hours.
Even though Eid al-Fitr is a big holiday, deadlines and projects do not always stop. At PUCO we keep the space calm, comfortable and flexible, so you can celebrate when you want and work when you need. Maybe you go to Eid prayers in the morning, visit friends or join a shared meal, and later come to PUCO to finish a few tasks. Or you work quietly during the day and enjoy the evening fully with your community. After iftar, the free dates are a small gesture from us, but they also say that we see your effort and respect your practice. Eid al-Fitr is also a natural moment to think about the month that has passed and what you want to change or improve, in life and in work.
